Bassist / Producer  |  David Bowie, Lou Reed, Stanley Jordan

"GTR is the most mind-blowing tool for guitar and bass! The Stomps section is my favorite. It’s like having hundreds of stomp boxes and endless possibilities…”

Producer, bassist, and arranger Yossi Fine was born in Paris to a West Indian singer and an Israeli guitar player. Following in his father's footsteps, Fine began playing guitar at the tender age of four. By the time he was sixteen, he was playing professionally with some of Israel's leading musicians. During the course of his distinguished and eclectic career, he has played with such musical giants as Lou Reed, David Bowie, Gil Evans, Stanley Jordan, Ol' Dirty Bastard, and Korn.

In the 1980's Fine moved to New York where he participated in Bushrock’s State of Mind album with Delmar Brown and Kenwood Dennard, subsequently joining them on their European tour. Next he joined the John Scofield band and toured with them throughout the US until he was invited by Gil Evans to join the Gil Evans Orchestra which included John Mc Laughlin, Hermeto Pascual and Jaco Pastorius, Fine then joined Lou Reed's band which opened for U2 on the Joshua Tree tour and soon thereafter began his long collaboration with Stanley Jordan, with whom he toured the US, Europe, South America, and the Far East. Fine's composition “Always Know” from Jordan's Cornucopia was nominated for a Grammy for Best Instrumental Composition.

In 1995 Fine returned to Israel and was asked soon after by Brian Eno and David Bowie to play on Bowie's Outside. He also worked prolifically as a record producer for leading Israeli musicians. Shortly after the beginning of the new millennium, bolstered by a new sense of musical direction, he formed, together with Ghanaian percussionist Nana Dadzie, his current band, The ExCentric Sound System.
